Keeping it reel (A wordie of the times)
Things I did yesterday:
Today I will try to get some paperwork sorted out for a bus driver's licence, which means a medical check, getting passport photos, applying for a "working with children" permit and a police check. I also want to mow the new block while it is a cool day, so I guess better get cracking.
- Fed the animals (this should happen every day)
- Emergency dash to the supermarket for important things like Milk, potatoes, painkiller tablets and CAT Food. Kirby has left me Post-it notes which I HAD not seen before the dash, I swear!
- Painted the desk top of Kirby's old Ikea desk. She needs to have a desk for this year's study plan (Year 12 is a tough year for these kids) This was interesting as I used the Air Compressor and the spray paint. I used an old tin of acrylic paint, thinned it out with a bit of water, and strained it before firing up the spray gun. It was a bit breezy out in the the backyard, but it was still fun to do. I was happy was the final result.
- Went to Centrelink to jump thru the latest hoop. I mixed it up a bit by also taking Casey with me, as she needs to apply for funding as well. Centrelink countered my arrogance by giving me another challenge, recording the daily hours worked by my wife for the past 40 days, Jeez, I will not let them beat me....
- Wrote to a collegue, pleading for work in the coming months. This may work!
- Called an employer regarding the same topic as above, I will need to call again as I missed him and then I was at Centrelink when he called me back - sigh-
- Moved my Quick Parts details from Blackie to the laptop. this is my quick way of writing killer cover letters to prospective employers
- Chatted with my sister Deb about Mum's upcoming 80th birthday party. They are sorting it all out back in New Zealand. Looking forward to it all.
- Dug out an old book case from storage in the garage. This will also go into Kirby's room
- Drove Casey over to Kim's apartment for Kim's flatwarming party
- Watched Gossip Girl with Kirby, then caught up with White Collar just for me
- Head hit the pillow by about 11pm after checking that Casey had a ride home. Read a page and half of my Christmas present book on 2006's best SciFi stories. (tired now) Gizmo insisted on sleeping by my bed (owww, that's cute)
