Another year older and still none the wiser

Last night I drove Casey to Geelong for a party. While I waiting for her I watched Avatar 3D, and I now own a snazzy pair of 3D glasses, in case I need them at another 3D movie. I really enjoyed Avatar, although I ended up not liking being a human, if we are all that destructive. I don't blame Jake Sully for switching sides. Loved the flying scenes.

On the way home, we picked up Kirby from John's place and all got home at about midnight.

This morning, my daughters made me breakfast (eggs on toast) and Dee made coffee so I didn't need to get my own breakfast today.

I got presents!! :: socks (thick and comfy ones) from the dogs, a stripy shirt from Glynis, two DVDs, and big beer mug from Kirby and Dee got me a membership at the Beer Barn, so now I can brew my own beer (without trashing the house)


Time to  take the dogs to the beach now for a dip, then the girls are going to bathe them, right?

The Month in Review...just where do these days go?

Since May, my life has been 'on the go'. After the last FP visit, we had another person visit us, with the the same story, but she was much nicer about our woeful financial position, so Dee and I heard her out. We liked her so much that we invited her back next month for another chat. In the meantime, we have put our block of land up for sale...there goes Dee's dream of a new house for the short term. Our plan is to clear our debts with the profit from the land sale, and then start again with a deposit from what is left over. Dee will have completed her two year limbo with the Tax Office and I shall get a better paying job. We clear on that? While all this was going on, my brother-in-law, Pete Clarkson suddenly died back home in Christchurch. The family flew me back home for his funeral and wake. For many many years, I have had a little statement rolling around in my head. I can't recall where I heard it, but I know it was not an original idea of my own. It goes something like this... A man's weekly wage can buy a bicycle or a good suit of clothes A man's monthly wage can buy a reasonable car A man's yearly wage can buy a luxury car A man's Half yearly wage will allow him to take a family of four on an overseas holiday Three years of a Man's wage could buy a small house/home ...and all this was from 100 years ago. Since then, I have sporadically and randomly searched for this type of reference on the internet but I've come up mostly empty, however I recently read another statement along the same lines, in that an ounce of gold could buy a pound of bread (or about 600 loaves) This has prove to be a lot richer vein to follow, if you can pardon my pun.
