Getting boxes ticked

I managed to shake off  minor apathy today and visited the doctors to get a medical certificate for my application to the VTD to drive Buses. I was surprised to find that I had to pay, and no medicare or bulk billing could get around it. In the end it cost me $110 to show a doctor that I had decent eyes, no heart trouble, reasonable blood pressure, and no drinking problems.

I then completed the application for a police check that needed a trusted citizen such as a chemist to witness my signature. It cost me another $32 to pay the police to check my honestly and $5.95 for the post office to send it and my id documents away to the Police.

So far I've spent about $250 on the paper work to get a bus accreditation on my licence. It better be worth all this fuss.

Now I wait for the Working with children card, the Police check and ID papers and I head off to the VTD to get my stamp

The Month in Review...just where do these days go?

Since May, my life has been 'on the go'. After the last FP visit, we had another person visit us, with the the same story, but she was much nicer about our woeful financial position, so Dee and I heard her out. We liked her so much that we invited her back next month for another chat. In the meantime, we have put our block of land up for sale...there goes Dee's dream of a new house for the short term. For many many years, I have had a little statement rolling around in my head. I can't recall where I heard it, but I know it was not an original idea of my own. It goes something like this... A man's weekly wage can buy a bicycle or a good suit of clothes A man's monthly wage can buy a reasonable car A man's yearly wage can buy a luxury car A man's Half yearly wage will allow him to take a family of four on an overseas holiday Three years of a Man's wage could buy a small house/home ...and all this was from 100 years ago.
