The heat is on

We have extreme fire warnings across the state today, with hot winds blowing in from the north.

I enjoyed the BBQ at our friend's house yesterday. I was even brave enough to go for a swim. The food and beer made me a sleepy later in the evening

I copped a couple of nicks on my hand yesterdy through simple stupidity. the first one when I was playing with the Bear cat, and he doesn't pull his claws in for anyone. result was bleeding from my fingers. On the way to the BBQ, I stopped into the bottlestore for supplies. I grabbed a 6-pack only to have it fall apart in my hand and crash to the floor. In trying to catch them (duh) the bottles smashed together and a bit a glass slightly cut another finger. No biggee, but my shorts got soaked from the beer and it required another trip home to change them.

When we got home, I tried to watch Legend of the Seeker, but dozed off.

In the evening, and after a cup of coffee, I dropped Kirby and John off at the movies, and I watched T3 and nights at Rodanthe at home.


Today I will try to get out of the house and run a few errands but then again, I might just stay indoors.

The Month in Review...just where do these days go?

Since May, my life has been 'on the go'. After the last FP visit, we had another person visit us, with the the same story, but she was much nicer about our woeful financial position, so Dee and I heard her out. We liked her so much that we invited her back next month for another chat. In the meantime, we have put our block of land up for sale...there goes Dee's dream of a new house for the short term. Our plan is to clear our debts with the profit from the land sale, and then start again with a deposit from what is left over. Dee will have completed her two year limbo with the Tax Office and I shall get a better paying job. We clear on that? While all this was going on, my brother-in-law, Pete Clarkson suddenly died back home in Christchurch. The family flew me back home for his funeral and wake. For many many years, I have had a little statement rolling around in my head. I can't recall where I heard it, but I know it was not an original idea of my own. It goes something like this... A man's weekly wage can buy a bicycle or a good suit of clothes A man's monthly wage can buy a reasonable car A man's yearly wage can buy a luxury car A man's Half yearly wage will allow him to take a family of four on an overseas holiday Three years of a Man's wage could buy a small house/home ...and all this was from 100 years ago.
