Damn Man Flu
After writing the last entry and kinda thinking that I'd do more, I was struck down by a 10 day man flu. It stopped me in my tracks. I struggled thru a couple of days driving, making sure that I coughed and sneezed on as many passengers as I could (joking!) but then I surrendered to the symptoms and took myself to bed. There were two days of misery, and the luckily I had a three day break from work, so I moped about the house until I felt better. By the time I was due to go back to work, the worst was over.
This break meant that I'm still required to build the time shed I purchased several weeks ago, and my helper is soon to go on a holiday so the shed may need to wait a bit longer.
Kirby has had a busy time at school, with end of school days and dinners and school trips all happening. Dee, Eddie (K's current BF) and I drove (and got lost) to her final class dinner over in Taylors Lakes, a journey of 34 kms just to get to a reasonable venue for 80 plus year 12 kids all dressed up to the nines.
Casey as also finished her year at Monash, with a planned performance but sadly one of the lead actors killed himself the night before Casey's second performance and Trent and I did not get to see her perform because the cast decided to cancel the show in the dead guy's honour. Understandably, Casey is pretty cut up about the whole thing.
The rain has past now and summer showed us her heat the other day, with temps hitting 33 degrees before the cool change arrived. Dee broke out her portable air conditioner for the first time in this house. Thankfully the lounge/dinner area has a new large air conditioner unit as well.
I've finally purchased a flat screen, HD TV after my tax refund came in. I looked a several units before deciding on an LG model. I approached the young sales man and tore him away from chatting up a cute female customer, asked him a few questions about the LG TV and then he burst my proud bubble by suggesting this was a good size TV for a bedroom. Hell! I was buying it for the lounge! I guess everyone else is now buy super large kick-arse 70 in TVs, but, hey, this was my first flat screen... sigh. Needless to say, he wasn't that interested in my little purchase and got rid of me pretty quick. The feeling was mutual.
I spent my father's day loot on season 1, 2 and 3 of the The Big Bang Theory DVDs. It was also fun to watch them when I was sick as laughing uncontrollably is good for the soul...if I have one.
Heaps more is going on, but this will do for now.
I'm back on the treadmill so maybe the exercise will perk my up enough to write more regularly.
